ACI Server Down, the Robi Datathon 3.0 Champion

Team 'ACI Server Down' became the champion of Datathon 3.0 held with the participation of more than 3500 young data scientists from hundreds of universities of the country. The members of this team are Soham Irtiza (Leader), Tahsin Islam, Hasan Zahirul Islam and Sabibar Hossain. In competition, they were able to analyze Robi's internal data to support customer internet package, data volume, purchase preferences and decision-making and business campaign billboard decisions for the operator.

The first runner up is Team 'Yellow King' and the second runner up is Team 'Big Data AI Data Science'. The three winning teams were awarded a prize of Tk 10 lakh by mobile operator Robi Axiata. State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak announced to give another 10-lakh taka grant to the winning teams.

He made this announcement before declaring the names of the winners at a grand gala night held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Monday.

At that time, the High Commissioner of Malaysia appointed to Bangladesh Haznah Md. Hashim and former captain of Bangladesh national cricket team Tamim Iqbal Khan were present as a special guests in the event. At that time, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Robi Axiata Limited, including Rajeev Shetty, were present along with important persons from the public and private sectors.

While speaking as the chief guest, Minister of State for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak urged the winners to analyze AI-based data like Netflix, Google and YouTube.

He said, under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and under the guidance of Hon'ble ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy, we have been recognized as the fifth successful country in the world in fighting Covid-19 pandemic by saving the lives of many people through the maximum use of scarce resources. Currently, if we can process about 12 crore health data as well as education data, data of mobile operators, then we can present new startups from there. If we can make our data safe-clean-processable by combining the talent and technology of the talented children of the country, then we can build an ecosystem of data-driven decision making.

Palak also said, artificial intelligence, robotics require a large amount of processable data. That is why classification of data is necessary, so that personal security, sovereignty of the country is not threatened. On the advice of Hon'ble ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy, we have decided to enact the Private Data Protection Act very soon. So that we can protect individual security, national sovereignty along with classification of data.

From the ICT division, we have set up the company Startup Bangladesh Ltd. From where we have invested BDT 100 crores in 50 companies; Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given another 500 crore taka for equity investment. We hope to gift 5 more unicorns in next 5 years and 50 unicorns by 2041 to the world. Our startups will be the main driving force in achieving the Smart Bangladesh Vision of 2041.

In the event, ACI Server Down received a prize worth 5 lakh taka as the champion. The first runner-up Yellow King got Tk. 3 lakh and the second runner-up Big Data AI Data Science got Tk. 2 lakh.

99 contestants from 23 teams participated in the final phase of the competition organized at various stages. The winner of Datathon 3.0 was determined through a 48-hour marathon competition held at Robi Corporate Office on May 24 and 25.

Rajeev Shetty, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Robi Axiata Limited expressed his feeling on the occasion saying, 'We are very hopeful to see the talent and innovative energy of the Datathon participants. This event highlights the potential of data science in solving various problems and reinforces Robi's commitment to sponsor future talented data scientists. We hope that the breakthroughs found in Datathon will play an effective role in building Smart Bangladesh.'
The competition is 'Powered by' partner Amazon web series organized by Robi Axiata Limited. Apart from this, Huawei Bangladesh Limited and digital media partner ADA Bangladesh were also platinum sponsors. Accentech PLC was the integration partner and Brain Station 23 was the cloud expertise partner of the event.
